Building named in Honor of Emma Eccles Jones Foundation

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (July 15, 2026) The Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy (Academy) will formally dedicate its student housing facility in a ceremony on Thursday, June 18 at 2:30 PM at 577 South 500 East in Salt Lake City. The dedication honors the extraordinary generosity of the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation, whose lead support made the building possible and for which its generosity will be recognized in the building’s new name.

The 28-unit apartment complex, located 1.4 miles from the Ballet Centre in downtown Salt Lake City, opened on August 1, 2024, and has transformed the Academy experience for nearly 50 pre-professional and trainee students. For the first time in Ballet West Academy history, students have access to dedicated, affordable housing with below-market rent, onsite resident advisors, security features, and furnished units made possible by a generous donation from Incredible Dwellings.

As Professional Training Division student Rowan Green-Teigeler can attest, the impact of the student housing has been immense. As a Cache Valley native who joined the Academy in 2021, she and her family commuted more than three hours a day, five days a week for two and a half years.

"When I moved into the new student housing in June 2024, I gained back more than just the commute time," she said. "The things that stand out about the student housing is the sense of community, safety, and the ease of transition to living on our own. I have found peace in a building full of people who easily empathize with each other, because we are all in the same boat."

Green-Teigeler adds that the below-market rent, location between two Academy campuses, and supportive neighbors "have made a world of difference in my young adulthood.”

Students training at the Academy's downtown Salt Lake and Park City campuses represent a wide geographic range, with dancers from across the country. The Academy also has Department of State approval to support international students with visas, welcoming its first international students into the housing community.

The sign unveiling ceremony is open to guests, with refreshments and facility tours to follow.
