SUMMARY: Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of: a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public (local, regional, national, international), and facilitate internal and external communications; and, all organization marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, client acquisition and so forth. Directs all aspects of marketing activities including: advertising, special promotions, promotional events, and public relations.
Responsible for generating earned revenue including: plan, create, and execute all ticket pricing and packaging strategies.
Establishes and ensures adherence to company branding and market positioning strategies. Implements branding and positioning strategies in all areas of concern including: place, product, pricing, and promotions. Develops annual and long-term market plans. Oversees and directs the efforts of all marketing staff and volunteers. Establish retention goals, season ticket and new audience goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities for the Director of Marketing include the following:
- Directs all aspects of marketing for the company and its related programs,
- Creates advertising campaigns for print, radio, TV and direct mail,
- Places, purchases and establishes trades for media,
- Directs the production for all print, broadcast and electronic media advertising,
- Oversees production of all collateral materials including playbills
- Writes, edits or supervises the writing of advertising and promotional copy for all media,
- Directs and Manages all photoshoots for company promotion, and maintains photo releases
- Creates strategic marketing partnerships,
- Conducts and analyzes market research
- Positions company strategically within the marketplace
- Develops marketing plan, measurable goals and implements strategies and tactics
- Develops product, packaging, and pricing strategies, for performance ticketing and show experiences.
Coordinates efforts of marketing committee and associated task forces,
Supervises all lobby set-up and company displays,
Participates as the key member of the front of house staff
Manages direct marketing efforts including mail, phone and e-mail
Directs Speaker’s Bureau and other special programs as website creation and maintenance,
Coordinates Social Media efforts, and
Other duties may be assigned.

Additional duties and responsibilities for the Director of Marketing include the following:

Directly Supervises Public Relations Manager, Box Office/IT Manager, Special Projects Coordinator, Retail Sales Coordinator, and Graphic Designer/Webmaster. Must have the ability to effectively delegate, coach and follow through on personnel management issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, or a related field is required. A minimum of five years professional public relations experience including advertising, promotion, market research, planning and strategy, media and public relations is also required. A Master’s degree in a related field and arts/dance experience is preferred but not required.
Understanding of budget preparation and reporting practices is helpful. Understanding and reporting on marketing costs, efficient marketing spend and earned media (PR) is expected.
Ability to solve practical problems with multiple variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to work within the Windows environment, specifically Word, and Excel required. Ability to work in a Mac environment preferred, but not required.
Must be able to travel locally. Due to the nature of Ballet West’s business (performing arts organization) work requires employee to be available to work after hours and some weekends.

The employee may be required to tour with the Company and travel intermittently throughout the year. Time off and vacations, in accordance with Ballet West’s Personnel Policies and procedures must be approved by the Executive Director and will be subject to the Company’s performance, touring and rehearsal schedules.

The Sales Representative is responsible for selling Ballet West season tickets and packages, promoting Ballet West shows and programs, and contacting patrons/donors during our annual Friends Campaign for donations via telemarking/telefunding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sells ticket packages to patrons and solicit donations via outbound phone calls.
Helps meet pre-determined goals for ticket sales, promotions and contributions.
Follow-up with clients as needed.
Establish relationships with patrons in order to create repeat business, referrals and provide superior customer service.
Identify potential group and corporate sale prospects.
Help maintain complete and accurate customer records.
Assists in preparing direct mail projects.
Work performances as needed.
Work external venues as needed (i.e., The Utah Arts Festival, Park Silly, The Farmers Market).
Other duties as assigned by the Internal Sales Coordinator.
Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, written and verbal communication, and customer service skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; high level of professionalism and grace under pressure; courteous attitude and strong listening skills; willingness to make numerous outbound cold calls with a high energy level; commitment to setting and achieving goals; strong desire to succeed; excellent phone and computer skills. Education and/or Experience
Experience customer relations in a call center/floor environment required. Experience in ticket sales, telemarketing/telefunding and a background in dance or arts is preferred but not required. High School Diploma required.
Ability to travel locally. Due to the nature of Ballet West’s business (performing arts organization) work requires employee to be available to work after hours and some weekends.
$9 an hour base, plus bonuses; incentives and free tickets to Ballet West.
