The Ballet West Ambassadors are thrilled to announce their first Shoe-In sale! The shoes are by local artist Trent Alvey and they were sold to Vickie L. Venne, a modern dance enthusiast and a licensed genetic counselor at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Vickie asked Ambassadors Catherine Parrish Lake and Christopher Renstrom if they would pose with Flat Stanley since this was his first trip to the ballet. For those of you who are not acquainted with Mr. Stanley, he is a character from a children’s book of the same name by Jeff Brown. As part of the Flat Stanley Project, children create their own Flat Stanley and keep a journal chronicling his experiences. The children then mail their Flat Stanley to others, who are asked to treat him as a visiting guest and to continue documenting his activities before sending him on another adventure. The Flat Stanley Project promotes literacy and connection among people. The Ballet West Ambassadors were happy to play a small part in this Flat Stanley’s journey.
Artists’ shoes are currently on view at O.C. Tanner stores in Park City and Salt Lake City. You can also see the shoes at Viewpointe ( May 6th), the Rose Wagner Theater lobby during the run of Innovations (May 14 thru 23), and at Ballet West’s fashion show: FUSION (May 30). You can find the prices for the shoes on-line at Ballet West website, www.balletwest.org. All proceeds from the Shoe-In sales benefit Ballet West.
