My time with Ballet West…
I must start by saying, the whole artistic staff was wonderful. Adam is a choreographer’s dream. He is so open; and ready to be in conversation. He has an amazing eye. I trusted him on every level. I felt welcomed by all and supported by all. Every ballet master/mistress gave me their all. I was blessed.
I believe that a company is the representation of the director. The goals of the director show in the dancers. All one needs to do is look at the dancers and he/she will know what a fine vision Adam has for Ballet West.
Tonight is the premiere!!! So excited. The dancers are SO ready to go out and dance. They have made the steps their own. They now paint the stage. They write their story. They live in the ephemeral moment of their amazing art. I can’t wait to sit there in the dark theatre and drink in their beauty.
I have enjoyed every part of this process. The dancers gave me their hearts in the studio every day. Through our daily dialogue, we found new ways to dive deeper into the roles. Every cast was different and brings new ideas to the stage. We were a team voice. I could not have done this without the team.
I am off now to prepare my last rehearsal. This is a sad and momentous event. Sad, because it is the end of a journey I have loved, and momentous because it is truly in the hands of the beautiful dancers. So, in fact it is the beginning!!
Thank you Ballet West! RULE THE STAGE!!! I know you will
Helen
