with The Four Temperments

John Butler’s Carmina Burana –our most requested ballet by Utah audiences – is a thrilling collaboration between dancers, singers, and orchestra, set to Carl Orff’s heart-pounding score. Carmina Burana is paired with George Balanchine’s complex and inventive The Four Temperaments. Together, these two mid-Twentieth Century masterpieces create a powerful and emotionally stirring evening.

Ballet West rings in the holidays with Willam Christensen’s beloved production of The Nutcracker.  Set to Tchaikovsky’s incomparable score, with visually stunning costumes and sets, this magical storybook has enchanted Utah audiences for more than 50 years. On December 30 and 31, Back by popular demand, Ballet West will present the “Nutty” Nutcracker featuring the same choreography but with fun flourishes and whimsical surprises.

Newly conceived and produced by Artistic Director Adam Sklute, The Sleeping Beauty arrives at the Capitol Theatre stage in time for Valentine’s Day.  This timeless tale of a sleeping princess, a handsome prince, and the triumph of good over evil is set to Tchaikovsky’s soaring music with spectacular sets and costumes designed by Peter Cazalet.  A must-see for you and your special someone.

with Sinfonietta and Chaconne 

This program features three major Utah premieres. Opening with the courtly elegance of George Balanchine’s classic Chaconne, it moves to the life-affirming splendor of Jiri Kylian’s Sinfonietta, and finally climaxes with the sensual power of Nicolo Fonte’s pulsating Bolero, set to the famous Ravel score.  An explosion of music and movement, this high velocity program will leave you breathless.
