Out of the billowing waves of a storm, a ship appears and is split in half by the tempestuous fury of the magician Prospero. This breathtaking stage effect is worth the price of admission alone. But add to that dancers flying through the air, monsters, gods and goddesses and glorious dancing from the entire company and you get this spectacular Emmy-nominated ballet version of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

Madame Butterfly: February 13-21, 2009
East meets West and drama meets dance as Ballet West premieres Madame Butterfly, February 13-21. Experience this haunting account of love and betrayal, devotion and sacrifice. Created by Australian choreographer Stanton Welch with stunning sets and costumes by Peter Farmer, this romantic tragedy is danced to Giacomo Puccini’s immortal score as arranged by John Lanchberry.
