Stephen Nakagawa, Ballet West II

Joined Ballet West II: 2013

Training: The Academy of Russian Classical Ballet under the direction of Michelle Klemenston and with the Inland Empire Youth Ballet under Randall Graham and Nadine Timm. Attended summer sessions at the Nevada Ballet Theater, North Carolina School of the Arts, Victor and Tatiana Kasatsky Dance Academy, Kirov Academy of Ballet, Miami City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and the American Ballet Theater’s summer intensive in New York City. 

Additional Information: Recipient of a scholarship to the North Carolina School of the Arts, attending from 2008 through 2010 and working with many great teachers such as Ethan Stiefel, Warren Conover, Nigel Burley and Frank Smith. Attended the Kirov Academy of Ballet in 2010, studying with Marat Daukeyev, Anatoli Kucheruk, Sasha Yapparov and Nikolai Kabaniev. Graduated at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities under the direction of Stanislav Isaaev, Josee Garant and Robert Barnett. While in South Carolina, Stephen worked and performed with the International Youth Ballet of Greenville, South Carolina under the direction of Lena Forster and Vlada Kysselova. Awarded Third Place in the classical division at the Youth American Grand Prix semi-finals in Columbia, South Carolina in 2012. Awarded First Place for classical and Second Place for contemporary in Atlanta, Georgia in 2013, and continued on to the Final Round in New York City.
