Hua joined Ballet West as a soloist in 2004 and was promoted to principal dancer in 2005. Born in Beijing, China, he began his ballet training at Beijing Dance Academy.

Prior to joining Ballet West, he performed with the National Ballet of China from 1995 to 2001, and Colorado Ballet from 2001 to 2004. His extensive repertoire includes performances in Dracula, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, Giselle, Coppélia, Cinderella and Carmen.
